Product Designer

Hi, welcome to the opening paragraphs which are defined in Settings -> Job Site. We'll show this in a moment.

Lever is a design-driven company and as our Product Designer, you’ll lead the way. You’ll be at the forefront of our product team, sprinting ahead of the rest to determine what we need to work on, define what our solution will be, and participate in the end-to-end process to make it real.

You should be ready to employ a wide range of methodologies, strategies, and tools to solve design challenges across the board. Lever’s current design team prides itself on being “full-stack generalists,” with the ability to solve problems with a blend of human-centered and technical approaches. We take users quite seriously and spend a lot of time directly interacting with users doing on-site research to both spec and evaluate features. And we’re as closely integrated with engineering as you’d expect at an early stage, fast-moving startup. It would be a good sign if you’re interested in learning to code, or already consider yourself pretty handy on the front-end.

The constraints you’ll be considering cover a huge surface area, including: multiple user groups, varying company size, limited development resources, and engineering complexity. As such, you’ll be working closely with Business, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering teams and communicating with them to make holistic decisions. Communication is a big part of your job, perhaps the most crucial value you’ll add to shaping Lever. Design’s recommendation carries huge weight in our team; you’ll be empowered to make Lever into an exemplary app that people love to use.

To-date, we’ve focused on bringing collaboration to Lever through design principles like these:

– Create shared workspaces to share goals

– Design for humans, not data entry

– Drive action with transparency

Within 3 months, you'll

  • Deeply understand our users, the problem, and the space
  • Know every corner of our app and identified issues/opportunities ripe for design improvements
  • Visit customers/users and translate your learnings into communication materials to share with the rest of the team
  • Design features and see them go live
  • Within 6 months, you'll

  • Lead the planning and design of complex a feature and take it from concept to deployment
  • Be working independently with engineers and product to take features from zero to deployed
  • Contribute to our codebase at a level appropriate to your appetite
  • Within 12 months, you'll

  • Lead the design strategy for major, new company initiatives
  • Hire and mentor other designers
